    You did good by starting with 3. My first go round was with about 40! My son and daughter showed at a county fair....I processed the ones that didn't make show. It took me forever! I did it in 2 days. But we enjoyed the meat for a couple months. Glad it went so well for u!!

    40 hens, 7 eggs?

    We had the same issue and it ended up being a possum...darn possum was getting all the eggs. I went months w/out finding an egg. Set a trap and caught a possum. Now with 9 hens I get 7 eggs a day...that musta been one fat possum!!!!!!!!!!

    Economy Cooking from your pantry

    Has anyone tried Cowboy Stew..... 1 lb ground hamburger meat, browned and drained 1 large can of corn, drained 2-3 large cans of ranchstyle beans, not drained (3 cans if you need to stretch the meal) Heat all together and serve!!! My kids like to add louisiana hot sauce and fritos to it.

    If you want a good variety of pics on these birds just google each breed. You will get more pics than you know what to do with!!! Are these the breeds that you are looking at getting? Cochins are beautiful!! All of the breeds you are looking at are very pretty....hard decision.

    Darn those baby chicks. we did it again

    I'm just as bad. We have 23 assorted chickies that are 5 weeks old and I went to the feed store and they had banty babies!!!!!!! Now we have a seperate brooder with 12 little assorted banties!!! I'm soooo excited!

    Feed, grit, DE help for newbie

    My advice: 1. I don't give mine grit because they have access to the outside world and peck and pick up what they need. 2. I have always used DE as a supplement to their feed. Just a few spoonfuls mixed in and stirred well. It coats their feed and makes it look like powdered donuts!! I...
