my kids LOVE IT
aawwww mamas after my own heart!
morning and evening i give my eight small bantams a pan of 1 cup cooked grits, 1 cup cooked oatmeal, with veggies, and leftovers. they love it and you know there always has to be one or two standing in the middle, warming their feet!
they LOVE peas and corn...
well my bantam ameracaunas are about 8 weeks. some have very obvious larger bright red crests, some have smaller bright red crests and some have none. obviously the ones with none seem to be female but what about the ones inbtwn?
at the deli today i bought a package of what is called "bird ball"...im guessing it is fat. the grump said i should tie it to a string and hang it for birds in the winter. when i was tying it, some of it crumbled to the ground and the chickens went insane over it.
congratulations!
may not seem like much to some people but darn, blood, sweat and tears is what it is. i am a professional groomer and i *know* just the grooming alone, keeping an active dog in show coat is no small task.
i am 40 min from philadelphia. i have what i believe to be, four male and four females that are available free to a good non-chicken-killing home. they are 7 weeks and i can keep them a few weeks longer. i am only parting with them because i promised my husband we would start with just four...
ROFL
I'll tell you my chickens names and take this a step or two further...you can see how random my other pets are named and we ALL know that no self respecting beloved pet goes with out a NICKNAME!
1) male French Bulldog from Germany, named Emil when we got him. to us he has always been...
here we have a lot of fox and hawks. i am thinking of keeping only 3 hens and bringing them in to the screened in porch at night. at 7 weeks they arent tame, they have bonded to each other really. how do you gather them to bring them in? guess we will have to start taming them. i too...
i hate to bore everyone with the same old questions, maybe one of the mods can highlight a thread or two in which it is clear, at what age can you tell the sex of a chicken? Or must you actually wait and see who lays eggs?
mine ended up mostly black brown. two are buff/wheaten something. one is black/gold spotty all over. and one is marked the same as the black/browns but very pale, not blue or lavender but almost gray. will get pics.
i have EE's also, at what age can you tell sex? half of mine have a larger red crest, obviously assume they are male. but if at 22 weeks some are still not sure...should i wait?
