My first ebay batch went well, blue/splash bantam coachin eggs arrived in good shape, from 2k miles away, didn't have high expectations from the whole thing. Broody hen is turning out to be a perfect mother even though she had been a hatchery chick. Four out of five hatched, which really...
It's quite alright. No problem. But regardless, no one seems to understand what my original intent with this thread was, so now I've honestly lost interest and I'm a little bit embarrassed for asking. Do I need to pm a mod about having this thread killed? Can someone please tell me? Thanks.
Well, okay. It seems this whole thread has taken a turn I did not expect. I wasn't expecting to gain some secret knowledge that would perhaps put someones livelihood in jeopardy. Instead, I was merely curious of their old, tried and true ways. I was also just genuinely curious as to what...
Your birds are amazing! Although I cannot order any at this time, I had to comment just to make sure I can find you again one day! I hope next spring you will still be doing this. Wow.
Hi Everyone!
I'm not sure if I qualify here as I've only read a few pages so far and have not seen anyone in my situation, but I'm a NOOB! I ordered 4 bantam Coachin blue/black frizzle eggs on Ebay, received 5 and put them under my broody bantam brahma straight from the mail. They came in...
Hi All,
As I get older, I appreciate the simple wisdom of old timers when I hear it, especially of course when it comes to anything gardening or chicken related. That brings me to my idea for a new thread here on BYC. I'd love to know what/how the Amish tend poultry. Unfortunately, when I...
I'm happy to have found this thread. I'm new to this. Bought 4 bantam blue/black Coachin possible splash/frizzle eggs, received 5, and they are under my broody hen now, as of earlier today. I will be reading and following this thread. I hope I am doing everything correctly. Well, so far all...
I love all the photos lately, of all the lovely ladies! Keep them coming! It keeps me busy until my chicks are ready, at the end of the month.
Such a cute idea with the tractors, and I love the color of Pinot. It'll be interesting to see how s/he turns out.
I don't know, but my little Flo is a puzzle! She is constantly a funny/weird little silkie. I think she's just enjoying her rise in the pecking order at the moment. Pearl is usually the head-honcho. :)
This is the drama at my house this morning. LuLu Belle lays her egg on top of Pearl. You can actually hear LuLu make 3 faint sighs as she lays. Poor dear.
Pearl has never gone broody, and the rest of the girls are not amused. :)
Thank you for this post! What beauties!
I suppose it's somewhat safe to say a light colored chick makes a light colored hen, (more or less) then. I love finding this out so much, thank you!!
