h2oratt and pilatik: Let me know how it goes! Happy that my hen may have a new friend from the Bay area! A picture or two would be awesome. I miss my hen at the back door every morning.
Hope she is behaving?!
HI:
If you want to pass your hens onto H2oratt, I can vouch for her, as it was my Barred Rock that she picked up just yesterday. Great family and they know chickens.
(That's funny you mention the hen crowing...mine did that a few times...not at the crack of dawn or anything. I read it's a...
I was reading that you should keep them apart for a month in the event of any illnesses. Here's the link: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/adding-to-your-flock.47756/
Yes it will fit in a pick up truck. We originally brought it home in a pickup but don't have that truck anymore.
Dimensions are: 68" high (at highest point) X 41"sq wide.
The roof comes off.
Fencing is a series of posts and wire: about 40' worth.
I also have a food bin filled with 25lbs of...
Hi
If you are still interested, you can have the coop and the fencing. I just want her to be with a flock and in a healthy environment
I do not have a way to transport all the stuff though so you would have to come and get her.
Let me know!
Thank you!
I had 2 hens and one died yesterday. I'm considering re-homing the remaining hen so she isn't lonely. A neighbour has 4 hens and another has 10. I'm concerned about my hen's position in the pecking order. How do they sort it out? Will my hen be OK in a new home?
Her friend had not been laying for a few weeks, and it's been extremely hot here, and the jealous dog went after her yesterday when she came into the house. So I"m not really sure what she died of....maybe heat exhaustion or maybe stress.
What do you do with all your hens?
We have a beautiful egg producing Barred Rock hen. She's super friendly and social.
Yesterday she lost her best friend, an Americana.
We cannot get more hens at this time so I am looking for a new home for her with a few other hens.
We have the whole set up of coop and run, so all that can be...
HI everyone:
Just an update on Honey. She has been laying blue eggs. The first was laid approx 2.5 weeks after the prolapse subsided. She has laid 3 so far with no complications. All is good!
I'm so happy we stuck with the program (laid out by all of you). I really didn't think it would work...
Honey is doing fine. She is back with the other hens...actually I gave them several days of free roaming in the back yard (as opposed to the run) so that she could have some space. The three hens are back in the run now and I noticed she gets a little hen picked when I put the food out, so she...
Hi Suzie:
Thank you. I was able to get my hen out of the pen and have put her back in her makeshift home.
Her derriere is still not all healed but it is getting better.
I will reintroduce her to the flock at night and give her a spray of vinegar beforehand.
Still hoping and praying that...
I've gotten myself in a predicament.
I decided since it was day 6, to let this girl out to the run. I let the other 2 hens into the yard so this recovering girl could have the run to herself.
She is very strong and even flew up to the 6ft fence between my neighbours and myself.
The other hens...
