I've got lucky twice in the last 10 days. I was able to snag 3 boxes (the limit ) of 100rd white box winchester 9mm at walmart twice in the last 2 weeks.
The trick is to get there before 8am. I drop my daughter off at kindergarten at 7:45 and head straight to walmart. I've been meeting the same...
That is a silkie for you!! We had a trio of adult silkies "adopt" hatchery chicks, the hens weren't even broody. They could see the babies and would sit near them all day and cluck softly, we turned them out together (under CLOSE supervision) and they took the babies in right away. It was the...
I've had some sort of respiratory bug going through my flock and it's totally new to me, I've never had a sick chicken. It started with one hen sneezing and wheezing, and spread pretty quickly through my entire flock. I've had chickens for years and never had an illness, so I don't know what...
She is doing great! She FINALLY took them out of the coop today and they're all scratching around in the run. I ended up giving our neighbor a few chicks for her daughter to raise, my hen just has 4 now. I love watching mama hens and babies, there is nothing more precious. I have the opposite...
I didn't get any packing peanuts! I was surprised! I sort of secretly like to see what the extra males are, lol.
My little banty is a Chocolate OEGB hen. https://secuservices.com/ideal/newideal/selectproduct.aspx?qty=1&ID=CHOEB&Product=96 Sweet does not even start to describe her, she is such...
I got mine this morning, from Ideal as always, they are great. The post office called at about 7:30 and I made the 30 mile trip to go get them. Normally my (wonderful) mailman will bring them to the house for me, but he said with this heat he'd rather me come get them. It's been like 105 for the...
I should be getting chicks tomorrow! I ordered buff orps & easter eggers. I've got only white egg layers now and I need some color in my egg basket. Our neighbor is always happy to take my packing peanuts...I'm pretty sure they eat them evenutally, but chickens are for food.
I have a poor broody...
One more quick question....what is the average a decent young game hen will go for? We've never been to anything like this and don't know what to expect!
Thank you for your replies!
Is there usually a decent selection at this sale? My husband is looking for a few young game hens (bug eaters for our yard), would these likely be available at this sale? Also, any guineas?
Can anyone tell me about the Blanchard, OK sale? I heard the next one is March 10. We're about a 2 hour drive and just wondering if it was worth going! Thanks!
Sorry, but the OP's posts scream "I'm a high school teenager and I know EVERYTHING!!!!!!!" We all know what I'm talking about.
There's no arguing with one of "these". You will live and learn, Moochie. The real world will come soon enough. One day you will look back and realize you acted like...
I keep them in an old margarine container in the fridge until it's pretty much full. Then I mash/grind them until I am tired of doing so, and mix them with scratch and scatter around their pen.
I think there is something to ACV. I use Braggs and add it to their water daily during the spring/summer/fall laying months. I will only add it 1-2x per week during the winter, but laying is at a minimum and I don't worry too much about it then. I get it at our "fancy" grocery store for $22.99...
I don't really feed it anymore (used to, but never saw any difference), but I do use the fool out of that stuff in my coop floor and bedding. I also sprinkle it on poop boards to keep poo from sticking.
Also when I have a hen go broody, I let her sit for about 3 days, then I sneak out at night...
Oooo Mama needs her TV and Dish LOL I'm a SAHM that lives in the middle of nowhere with a husband who works 60-70 hours per week. My oldest is in school, so I'm at home all day with my 18m old. I would go insane without TV! I love to watch the Food Network, HGTV, and the especially the DIY...
