I'd say humidity is a big deal for the chicks. We've had a heat wave and the A/C makes the air dry in our house. I usually wet a paper towel and drape it over the eggs, but did not today. We lost one today that died during hatching because I think the membrane was too dry. It pipped a hole...
It can be tough losing a chick...I lost my first just 30 minutes ago... the heat lamp fell off and baked one of the chicks...thankfully the other 12 were not trapped under the lamp when it fell straight down umbrella style. Does anyone have bad experiences with these clamps on the heat lamps?
