Limping cockerel for no obvious reason, how long before putting him down

Maybe it's joint pain, etc? I had a roo that had a stroke and limped for 2 years, gave him pain management and he lived the rest of his life otherwise happy until dying of old age in his sleep.

    Rooster is lame

I had a rooster that went lame as well. He had a stroke and at first wouldn't walk, then walked funny because he lost a lot of use in one of his legs. He managed fine until he died of old age. Not saying your rooster had a stroke, just something else to help you brainstorm.

    Sick hen, out of ideas

I have an Astralorp hen, she's nearly 2 years old and about 6 lbs. I noticed about a week ago (Monday to be exact) that she didn't come out with the other girls, and when I went to look for her she was in her nest box. She was weak, couldn't stand or walk, her comb was flopped over and she was...

Best set up for a dust bath in the run? How to keep it dry?

I'm wanting to add a dust bath for my girls in their run. Right now it's just hard packed dirt and we're working on adding some wood chips, etc to make some better covering in there. They've dug awful holes everywhere and when we add the new ground covering they won't be able to do that. So I...

chicken run ground materials and enrichment?

We have an attached enclosed run for our chickens, they do not free range as there are far too many predators here. We have 15, mixed breeds med to small size. We started with grass, then of course that went very fast and turned to mud. So we added sand and now it's mud again. I'm wanting to...

    My old hen is dying

I have an old hen and she's very sick. I've tried to help her but she's declining rapidly and as heart breaking as it is, I'd like to help her so she isn't in pain. I don't have the heart to do the traditional method with a broomstick. Is there something I could give her? I have some gabapentin...

    Baby chick leg issue

She is doing much better. Thank you for asking. I thought it was her leg or maybe a stroke because I noticed her wing was drooping too. She couldn't keep her head up much and slept a lot. She couldn't stand and could barely walk. She's also the smallest despite being the same age. If anyone...

    Baby chick leg issue

This happened this afternoon and I'm not sure how. I'm guessing she got stepped on by the other chickens. She cant bear weight in it, she just sits, and her wing on that side is droopy. The affected leg seems longer than the other so I'm guessing a break or dislocated. What can I do for her...

I'm sorry, I wish I could help you but I really just don't have enough knowledge to troubleshoot with you. I hope someone here offers you more help. Also maybe try posting in the section for sick chickens not just 'raising chickens'. I hope she gets better.
