    MARYLAND THREAD!

Hey there Frederick Co (Yellow Springs or Gambrill mountain) friends, is anyone looking for this girl? A friend who lives at the corner of Bethel/Yellow Springs (Hamburg) Rds found her in his yard. The pics are dark but she's black, maybe molting?

Introducing new chicks...it's not going too well.

I got my BPR chicks (2 mo old) to agree with and live with my red sex links (17 weeks old), but I am not sure if it was because the BPR's were here first so the reds weren't so mean? They did chase and peck a little but by day 3, the BPR's were gladly going in the house with the bigger girls at...

    EE rooster?

I have to laugh at myself because all along I thought HE had the prettiest beak! Hence the name Candy Corn. I would have rather had an ugly beak now, I guess and I picked him out of the sexed pullet bin, of course! I already have 1 or 2 BPR roosters to get rid of. Sounds like you are a rooster...

    EE rooster?

Does anyone else think Candy Corn is a rooster? He/she is 5 weeks old and her comb is much bigger than the others. Plus she is spastic compared to my other little ones!

First coop and run. Am I missing anything???

I read in an article on here once that chickens do better with a 2x4 for a roosting bar because their feet can be flat and it prevents frostbite? I haven't had my chickens a winter yet, so I don't know for sure, but just a thought your coop looks great!

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Here are the 3 EE (green layers) chicks I got from the feed store for Mother's Day. They are 5 weeks right now, I can't wait to see them fully grown! We also have BPR & Red Star's but I love how these 3 look so different, I can actually tell them apart. They aren't as lovey-dovey as my others...

Great story, congrats! I have red stars, too but I got them at 17 weeks, and they are really coming around to be sweetie-pies. Totally enjoyable birds!

    chicks with 17-week olds?

We are ultra new to this chicken thing, we ordered 17 week old red sex link layers from a poultry farm that should be ready soon. Meanwhile my dad thought it would be cute and funny to give our kids chicks for Easter...which I was initially unhappy about but now have grown to be very attached to...
