So I have watering cups I use for the girls but every other day there is a layer of algae at the bottom that I have to clean. How do I keep that from happening or is there better ideas? Thanks!
Thanks for the responses everyone! She has the biggest comb of all of mine and I thought the astralorps would grow bigger, faster. I was starting to worry again.
So this comb grew this big within a day or two so I was sure cockerel. But now at almost 9 weeks it hasn't grown any and still just a tiny bit of red. Plus no wattles. What does everyone else think?
Well those new pics make me think roo now lol. It's a lot more red and bigger than it looked in the first Pic. But to answer your question I'm in another thread with someone who thought roo the entire time until it laid an egg and it's comb was massive. But once again after seeing those new...
I wouldn't count out a hen yet. If you search through threads you'll find some posts where everyone was confident in it being a roo but it ended up laying an egg. Some astralorp pullets develop huge combs and wattles.
So I have a 13x9 chicken run that still has grass and I want the grass to stay as long as possible. Problem is because it's so hot out the poop is starting to smell a bit. How can I cover up the smell without covering the grass with sand or any kind of bedding? Is it even possible?
Dang. Sorry if that's not what you wanted. Thanks for the update though. I've been racking my brain about mine at 6 weeks and a lot of people don't come back to confirm or deny so it's hard to compare lol
Is this normal comb growth for a 5 week old RIR pullet? Oooor do I have a roo on my hands? Temperament is very skiddish and is the lowest dominate one of the group.
