Im in CT winters In CT have been BRUTAL...today torrential downpours... I had to grab half the girls and coop them my self which didnt make me a happy camper, they started roosting in my garden , and since it was dark the couldn't see well, I looked like I was in the "dirty mudder" race lol...

As an addition to when...I have been picking them a basket full of tender grass clipping etc, and feeding it to them daily......I was getting 6 eggs out of 21 hens.... some are molting etc. but today So far Im up to 12 eggs!! keep that protein high, and their waddles/combs have suddenly changed...

OK I've googled/searched, I need/want to add lighting in my chicken coop to supplement for the shorter days, I have a solar light out there which is pretty strong, When do I add the light, In the morning ... or in the evening after they have been cooped up ? And let the light die by its self...
