WOW! These hybrids turned out incredible looking birds! Second time this week I've heard of this cross, very interesting, I never thought it would happen
The whites are crackers Bemba! Look forward to seeing them feathered out, one in particular is looking like a standout there. Pacific Blacks look good too, nice dark legs and defined eye stripes.
Wow! I'm now interested to see how much feather loss occurs on the head as it matures! No sign of a casque forming? Keep the updates coming, this is very interesting
Well it sounds like you will be overrun with keets in the near future though :) which is a great thing!
We are in the middle of winter right now, I have been feeding them up to keep the condition on them ready for Spring and the laying season! I can't wait. I have been building new pens to...
Thanks for the kind words :)
These keets have grown out a fair bit now, the general pattern remains, but as they feather up they do tend to lose some of the white areas as the darker feathers cover them from the outside.
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share a few pictures of my Guinea Fowl here in Australia. Birds were bred by Bemba, a member on this forum. The idea is to get two lines going, heavy pied birds and then Red eye Cinnamon Pieds.
.
Hope you like them!
It will be interesting to see whether the chicken or pheasant genes dominate most! Most Cheasants I have seen in pictures and videos lean more toward the pheasant genetics, body shape and tail, plus the calls they make are very pheasant like. They do seem to carry the chicken colour patterns...
Cochinbrahmalover summed it up perfectly! I think an accidental mating between these species is unlikely to destroy any pheasant lines. Please can we now get back on topic? Namely, updated pics of the little chesants as they grow :)
