I built an outdoor playpen for my chicks, they are 2 and a half weeks old. They love being outside. Ii is fun to sit and watch them scratch, peck, and try to dust bathe in the grass. Then after all the hijinx they lay in the shade and take a nap.

So we finally named our chicks. My oldest named two of them Leia and Padme (from Star Wars), my youngest named two Britany and Sarah, my wife named one Cookie, and I named one tiny. I at first thought Tiny may be a runt but after conferring on here she, may be a he. I hope not we are not allowed...

We are having a family meeting when my wife gets home from the store today and we are naming ours. My boys are excited. I will post once they have been named.

I have 6 chicks that are a week old. 5 of them are growing beautiful wing feathers. One though has short stumpy wing feahers that don't look like the others. Should I be worried or am I just over reacting?

These are our first chicks, quite the learning experience. We have 4 buff orpington and 2 barred plymouth rocks.

Ok thank you, one more question the chicks seem to be pecking each other a lot. I had heard if it is too warm they will do that, but they are spread out like the temp comfortable.

So when I went to clean it off I realized it is part of the egg shell and egg contents. It is stuck on pretty good, is there anything else I can use?

We just got our chicks today and I noticed one has some manure on its wing from shipping, how should I go about removing it? Is it safe to get it wet using a rag?

We are now T-Minus 4 days until we get our chicks. I have the brooder set up and ready to go. Quick question how soon until they start flying? I haven't been able to make a lid for it yet.

The more I think about it I do believe I am just going to cover the run, I know I will be worrying all the time. Any ideas on what to cover the top with, poultry fencing gets awfully expensive.

I had thought about electric fencing but right now funds are tight.
