    Moth balls = no snakes???

Have had more banded water snakes brought to me dead than I care to see again. You really don't need to ask someone again, just look up a photo on google to compare!! You'll see the differences right away.

    FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I've advertised a cuckoo marans rooster on Craigslist for awhile for $15. However, I'll offer him free to a good home on here. I got two as babies and were told they were pullets- same old story- both were roosters. My family LOVES the one and pick him up and hug him all the time...he...

Hey Maine-iac! Spanish moss does have mites, but after 20 years I can't imagine them still being there. Oven at 200 degrees for an hour might do it- but it's highly flammable. I use it to start fires in the back yard for cookouts! Gardens- I use compost, ash, and topsoil. Mulch wouldn't...

Will a copperhead kill a hen?

Good LORD! I've never seen a Bull snake in person, just in pics. However, you're going to SEVERELY regret killing the bullsnake once you read this: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/217544/bullsnake-two-pics-of-a-bullsnake Known as 'the farmer's friend', it's harmless to poultry....

Will a copperhead kill a hen?

No! Hens HATE snakes and freak when they see one, no matter how big. Mine tolerate a yellow rat snake but if he hangs out too long I'm sure he'd be toast!

    Australorp mite/lice issue....REAL experience needed!

So you treat for all things! Like the PAM idea. The Rotenone seems like the thing, thanks for that tip. What's weird is that I just did the Sevin dust thing tonight- and I couldn't find a SINGLE bug on any of the 5 new birds.....not on vents, under wings, at the ends of feathers, ANYWHERE...

    Moth balls = no snakes???

So where are you? In Florida, we have a WIDE variety of species, but sadly most are rarely seen. In PA or NJ as a kid, I could just throw a few boards in a field, come back in 2 days, and get fistfulls or garters, ringnecks, milks, red bellies....etc.....where in FL they underbrush is just so...

    Moth balls = no snakes???

Sparrow, I know, snakes are my favorites, but even if you look in Genesis in the Bible (and if you're not into that, I'm cool!), when God curses the serpent, it says (paraphrase) "I will cause enmity between you and the woman"....which basically means she will naturally fear snakes... Plus...

Will a copperhead kill a hen?

I've read (but not directly experienced) that guinea fowl absolutely tear snakes to bits if they find one.

Any ideas for keeping rat snakes away from a chicken coup?

1st question: What kind of rat snake? 2nd question: Why? I have a 3' yellow rat that takes care of any stray mice near the coop. Caught and held him 5 times. Birds don't like him, but her serves a useful purpose!
