She's a golden wyandotte. For an older girl I'm quite impressed that she's given us 5 jumbo sized eggs a week! She's been a great girl too and just LOVES it when I dig up worms to give her as a treat. She's not as friendly as the chicks but is starting to warm up to me.
My cranky "I hate chickens" husband is even excited and has been checking the coop for eggs. I never thought I'd even see him set foot in that pasture let alone the coop!
My first Egg! We picked up an older girl from another farm who I found on craigslist "free to good home." She's been a great mom to our 6 week old chicks and has taught them how to scratch, eat stuff other than feed and best of all roost (they have been huddling up in a corner instead)...
Finally temps are supposed to be 65+ this weekend. My chicks are almost fully feathered. Think they would be happy in their chicken tractor for the day hours and back in the brooder at night where it's warm? I wish I had the ability to get a heat lamp out in the big coop.
CarlaSC - This is meant to be used like a chicken tractor. It is not my permanent coop. This Hoop Coop is now living inside my electric netting fence and guarded by my alpaca stud. I think between 2 Joules of electric shock and a cranky alpaca the chickens will be happy and safe in their quarters.

Unfortunately I'm waiting on my tarp so I can take a finished photo of the coop! Hope it gets here this weekend.
Summary: 8'x8' ft footprint and over 6' tall! Large, light weight, easy to move with 1 person and about $200 to build!
Getting our first chickens meant building our first coop! I wanted a tractor format but something I could walk into and stand up in. At 6'2" I don't bend over easily...
