    Sick hen

Can someone give me an idea what is going on with this hen, please? Have you seen this before? Yesterday she didn't want to move much and wobbled some. Today she is sitting on her butt with her legs straight out in front of her like a person would. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly...

Does anyone know what breed this pullet may be?

Thank you. I was looking at your profile picture. We were given some Bantams and these look like the hen we have. Could you tell me what the breed is? There is a young rooster that looks like her, too. He has just found his voice in the last week. Any idea how old he might be?

Well, now I just feel dumb! LOL! I do say it's a good day when you learn something new. It's been a good day. Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know what breed this pullet may be?

Well, there you go! Funny thing is I bought these chicks from Meyer Hatchery and I went to their site to research Red Sex Links & ISA Browns to verify that maybe that is what it was. They don't show either on their site when I tried a search. If they don't sell them how did I get one? I'm not...

Does anyone know what breed this pullet may be?

I'd seen photos of Red Sex Link and ISA Browns that seemed similar but wasn't sure because the photos weren't great. Thanks!

Does anyone know what breed this pullet may be?

My chick order was for Barred Rock, Australorp, Rhode Island Red and Buff Orpingtons. LOL! I know she's not a Barred Rock or Australorp, but she isn't looking like the RIR or BO, either. I've been trying to look at photos all over but I decided it would be much easier to just ask here. Thanks...

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

We were so excited to get our first egg from one of our RIR hens a couple of weeks ago. We watched and waited daily and then it was two a day, then 3. Today we are were pleasantly surprised to have 5 eggs laid at different times of the day. We have 16 hens, so slowly but surely, we will be...

    Show off your roosters

I had a RIR rooster that was gorgeous, but too mean to the hens and pushed his luck with me, too. It made me sad when we had to dispatch him.

These are the 3rd day and 4th day eggs from our newly laying RIR hen. The first two were pretty much the same size as the third one. As newbies we are amazed at the difference in the two.

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

Well, I am excited for you! How cool that you are documenting the changes like you are. I wish I had thought of that this week when one of our hens started laying her first eggs. I think I will start now!

He is single combed. He is a feisty boy who is now trying to protect the hens from the the head Roo's mounting them. He rushes in attacking then gets his own butt chased all over the place for it. I worry about him.

Three days and three eggs!. They are small, but hey, I'm happy we are finally seeing some. I had our Australorp hen making a racket by the house and I ran to check, but no sign of an egg. I am thinking she will be soon. Someone was in one of the nesting boxes after I cleaned out the coop and...

    Show off your roosters

This is one of my favorite pictures. This is the younger of our two roos, a SLW. In this photo he is only about 15 weeks. He is definitely not the dominant roo, but he keeps his eye on the hens he claims as his. The other roo we have is a beautiful Australorp. I don't have a good picture of him...

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

Yay! for your eggs! Our hen is almost 19 weeks. She laid her first yesterday and another today. I am so sorry to hear that the dogs got two of your hens. That had to be rough. I sent the photo to my email and saved it, then downloaded it from there. If there is an easier way from an I Phone...

    Post your FIRST EGG pics!

We got out very first ever egg yesterday! Our little RIR hen has been talking to me for weeks and finally laid her first egg and then another today. They are on the small side, but pretty perfect as far as eggs go...or so this novice thinks. LOL! We have a total of 16 hens (RIR, SLW, GLW and one...
