I had done a science experiment as one of my BCM lays speckled eggs. She was covered by my CLB Roo to try for green speckled eggs. Somehow my blue Silkie boy must have gotten a turn because I have all BCM looking mixes and this girl lol she’s getting a tiny bit of copper around her neck
@nicalandia
Probably breeding 101 but I wasn’t sure and thought I’d ask. When going from a mixed flock , to separating breeding pairs, trios etc how long until I can collect purebred eggs (how long does semen stay inside a bird so I don’t accidentally make crosses)
I’m sure all the BCM people get terribly annoyed with this question but help me pick one of these three boys pretty please? I have two females and one male that are all beautiful and exactly what the SOP calls for . However, there egg color wasn’t very dark. These guys come from super dark stock.
Well both my paint and blue were cockerels so I ended up getting a dozen mixed color silkies that are hatching in one week! I only have one red (doing well so far praying it makes it through hatch day) BBS, paint, cuckoo and mottled so I’m very excited to see all the fluffiest next week...
Lol well don’t want to be breaking the law!! for some reason I cannot get my flash to work and it’s getting around sunset here. I’ll try to take a little bit more bright pictures tomorrow.
Thanks for replying! He is four months old. I had two cockerels (BCM and Bluebell egger) that grew up together and get along great and he kinda threw a wrench into that peace lol I’m thinking of sticking him with his own girls that are a bit more mature and ready for his exuberance lol
Thanks...
We are having a huge storm on the big island and they had to bunk in the garage after I had to bathe and blow dry them when I found them soaking wet lol and I went to check on them and one was purring. They are just the sweetest !
