    Big chickens becoming aggressive?

This year we purchased some day old light sussex chickens and put them under one of our silkies, Penny. Now, we have had small scuffles between the light sussex chooks before - nothing new - but now, at 26 weeks, give or take a bit, I've been told by the family that these two light sussex hens...

    Normal Flock Size?

Isa browns are technically a cross breed between a dozen or so breeds, bred specifically for laying eggs. Short of an Australorp they are probably one of the best layers. They certainly have very flamboyant personalities. Our two always are the first to run up to us for food, will wait at our...

    Breeding questions?

Last year, around December, 15 weeks ago, we purchased four light sussex day olds, one of which was a cross breed (x arancuana). One of the light sussex (pure) we’re fairly sure is a rooster. It’s fairly obvious. Since three of them are related, if not by the hens (since there were several...

Is this light sussex definately a cockeral - soon to be rooster?

We've had all four chicks from day olds and we've noticed that one is looking remarkably different. Can anyone say from the pictures that it's definately a male? Or is just a odd hen? In comparison with same age light sussex pullet and light sussex cross Aracuana.

Is this a cockeral light sussex?

It's just that we've noticed a bit of sparring and with the suspected cockerel it's tail seems to stick up more than the other two and it's head is a bit more red. Fingers crossed though.

Is this a cockeral light sussex?

We got four babies about 6-8 weeks ago. Now, we're sure two of the white light sussex are hens. We have a feeling one is a cockeral. Also, we're not sure about the black one which is a light sussex x aracuana. All born days apart. The top two images are of the suspected cockeral. Not sure...
