    I had a hen who did this. I didn't know if she was egg bound or if mites were the problem or was she constipated.     I read somewhere that chickens can get depressed when their rooster or other hens die. :(. Maybe I will look into patenting Chicken antidepressants. ;)

    Have you tried another type of bedding? My chickens don't care much for hay but they like the wood shavings. I read that advise somewhere. Good luck!
