Mine are 7 weeks old today and they are still growing rapidly. Feathers are coming in good now and starting to quack. Still have more growing to do! I am new to ducks and I am amazed at how fast they grow. They are almost the same size as my RIR hens!
I have six and one of the just started laying last week at 15 weeks old. Got a double yolk yesterday and the egg was large. I didn't know what to think of it until I got on here and started reading about it. Doesn't seem to be anything to worry about.
I just raised (6) chicks in the basement to 6 weeks old and moved them out last week. The smell got pretty bad and we cleaned the cage a couple times a week. I am not sure if (1) would be bad. I used pine shavings as the bedding. It may work if you cleaned it everyday. Good luck.
I have (6) 6 week old hens in my basement that need to move outside. I have a 4' x 10' coop/run I just built and wanted to know if they were ready to go outside. It is not getting below 45 degrees at night. The coop has a mesh floor and could get drafty. Do they need a heat lamp?
