Peacock or Peahen??
The one that turned out to be a hen for instance... it has "gold laced feathers" on saddle which is sposed to be male; last feather on wings is a bright brown,and it's got some really dark feathers on shoulder. At what age can you know for sure. -

That's what the breeder said! But a woman on a fb group said the black shoulder already has more dark color on wings than a female chick. But I have only had them a week and I have already noticed less barring and color on wings however, I see lots of barring on the back above the tail on both... -

I not only wonder about sex, but I am totally ignernt about black shoulder color/pattern. Can this black shoulder chick be a purple pied black shoulder? It has same color on some areas that is white and some looks same as the purple pied chick. -

urgent pea chick help
purple pied baby. Could only afford one so stole a 2 day old chick from my hen to be his buddy. First day without buddy he didn't eat or drink and called and called. It had been in brooder with about 20 chicks. As soon as I put the bitty in with it she (i hope) settled and quit calling then... -

got this one at auction cause I liked the color. Thought it was big hen. Looks like comb was clipped and nubs where spurs would be. But no crowing. Rooster won't go near it. Hens won't go near it. What is it? Very docile luke a hen. Walks like a rooster.- twhjmm
