Don't know where you live, but here in zone 7 at 8 weeks old if it turns off too cold at this time of the year, which it usually does, that could kill them.

    Chicken won't leave nesting box

You could give her fertile eggs and just let her set. They are the best incubators and mothers ( most setting breeds are). I think there is nothing quite as beautiful as baby chicks running around with their mama hen.

    Eggs have disappeared! Help!

I would like to know what the trail cam showed. We had a bantam sitting on quail eggs, each day one or two eggs were gone, come to find out, quite by accident of course, another bantam was eating them shell and all.

Found a pile of feathers, 2 chickens missing!

In the past I've had dogs do this, it is so frustrating just trying to figure out what is doing the damage. But hawks and dogs have been our only problems during the day.

    Did I cook them??

Just a thought, but you could do an egg autopsy ( put one of the eggs in a plastic baggie and crack it open) .Seeing the results from this one egg may help you.

    Nothing after 23 days

Don't know what kind of incubator you have, but you can add water with a straw or a tube and not open the bator, just use the vent holes.

Help! 4th chick trying to hatch but mal positioned!!!

I'm so very glad it finally hatched out for you. But I have a question. I should probably look somewhere else....But when a chick needs help hatching what happens when it is grown???? Does it lay eggs like it should? Is it as fertile ? Does it grow off well? Does it inherit any bad genes??

Thank you so much for the info. It is my understanding (what I have read online ) that so many of the english orpingtons have been breed for show not egg laying.
