  1. This is the completed coop and run after expansion. The run is a copy of one I found here, I think it's Coop de Ville. I saw it, loved it and gave our builder a photo. They copied it exactly and I love it ! The barn doors on the coop are my favorite. Now our girls are safe and snug on cold nights. All we need to do is hang stockings for Santa.

  7. Upstairs roost. This was not in the original coop, but we added it as soon as the girls got big enough. The roosts that came with the kit were too skinny. I like them to be able to cover up their toes in the winter time to keep them warm. A wider roost just seems like it would be more comfortable.

  8. There is now a second nest box downstairs. It doesn't have a lid like the one upstairs, but the girls made a nest so it's a nest box.

  9. New downstairs roost. This was a coop from the tractor supply and the area that we had enclosed would have originally been the "run" if you just used it as was straight out of the box and assembled. We have always had the coop on a raised cedar platform in a large covered run. There was no way 4 hens would have enough room in that original coop.

  13. This was our original coop for our 4 girls. There was plenty of room for everyone, until everyone grew up and wanted their own spot on the roost. It also did not have proper ventilation. So we expanded !

    We added another roost and enclosed the open end of our coop to make room for all the girls.

    Why did she lay a very small egg today?

    We had one that size and called it our "American Girl Doll Egg". ...the kids thought it was adorable. It looked so cute in the pan next to a regular size egg.
