I actually had 2 of my older chickens falling over, off balance etc. It ended up being mites that was causing it. I treated them with a insecticide spay & they gradually got better over the next week or 2.
Actually I thought it was more connected to the shell, but when I tried to get a better picture the shell came off. It looks like this now. Is there something I should do for it?
Actually it’s late, I just assumed it wasn’t ready judging by the yolk sac. They were supposed to hatch on Monday. The other hatched Wednesday & is doing well. This one hatched last night after being piped for 3 days.
That yellow is dried up, so if it was yolk, it’s no good now. The thing attaching it to the shell is rather thick and appears to be bloody. It almost looks to me like it’s trying to pull the umbilical area back out.

No, that’s something from the other chick that hatched. The pip is in the right place on the green one further up on the other side & I think it’s progressing nicely.
This egg has been like this for 16+ hours. The membrane appears to be dried out. It looks brownish & ive seen no movement. Should I moisten the membrane? Should I do anything else? My humidity is staying between 70-75% in the incubator. It’s hard to tell from the pics because of lighting, but it...
I personally don’t t cull my old hens, unless they’re sick. I feel like I should let them live out their life for repayment of all the eggs. My 2 oldest are 7 and still seem healthy & even give me an occasional egg!
i bought this chicken yesterday. Chicken is 1 year old. She is suppose to be a hen, a maran/polish mix. She has some pretty long spurs. I know some hens can grow spurs, but doesn’t that normally happen in older hens. Is there any other way I can tell if it’s a hen or rooster? Or do I just have...
