Thanks for replying, I on,y had her for 4 days as hatched them at school and they went to the farm on Thursday but she did so well! Gave her vitamin e I. Water everyday and peas too for B1 and now you can't tell which one she is! :)
Good news...Lily has done fantastically this week! With a lot of love and attention, plus vitamin e and peas she is now pretty much a 'normal duck' She still occasionally throws her head back when drinking but this may now be a habit thing. She went to the farm this week with the other 7 and is...
Trying to find everything I can to help my little Lily, she hatched last night with no assistance. Have read a few things and bought some vitamin e capsules today (human ones) and gave her some in some water with her first feed. She runs around in a crazy manner and tilts her head back a lot...
She hadn't eaten yet when we got to school this morning, I'm guessing she hatched yesterday evening or last night. I bought some vitamin e capsules and put some in her water, just human ones, hope that's ok. Was very confused by all the b vitamins and wasn't sure how they relate to ducks? She...
Thank you for replying :) I bought the incubator home and have been keeping an eye on her, she still rests it backwards but she is moving it forwards more. Somewhere said vitamin E may also help? I was going to get some in town as a vet on the phone said human capsules are fine for this?
Miss Lydia,
Winston is happy and healthy on the farm, I've had an updated picture and he's fine :) our next batch have hatched themselves and we have 8 new ones however when we went to school this morning three were out but one is holding it's neck backwards and resting on it's back. She walks...
Hello,
Thought I'd update you on my beautiful two...I rang the sanctuary yesterday where I took Meredith and they said shed done well over the week under the circumstances, was eating and drinking and moving herself around (albeit on her wings mostly) but when they checked in on her on Friday...

Yes, this is my third year hatching now, I'm still so amazed and in awe of the whole thing and the children love it too. I'm a very protective duck mummy, they are only allowed cuddles sitting down and I always have my hands right underneath in case baby tries to jump. Yes I am loaned the eggs...
Nope unfortunately not, this batch was so unsuccessfully (only these two out of 20 eggs) we did put another batch in two weeks ago but obviously they are not ready to hatch yet. I will see how he goes but it may be a case of taking him back to the farm early as the lady has chicks at the moment...
Thank you for all of your help and advice. This evening I contacted a local animal sanctuary who have. No kill policy and they agreed to take her and try their best to help in anyway they can. I cannot do anything for her, I don't know how to help and a school isn't the best place for her. I am...
The temp has held steady at 37.5 (it's an automatic incubator. Humidity jumped around a lot in the first week ( it's hard to maintain in big classrooms where the air temp changes but every time I checked it was about 44%-46%. She is absolutely fine other than her legs, she's so beautiful. This...
I would absolutely love to, she's so beautiful, but it's a hatch we've done at school and the eggs are on loan from a farm so don't belong to me. Saying that the lady will unlikely take a deformed duck as it's a working farm and I have no means of keeping her, not run or anything plus a mother...
