Bad Experience w/IDEAL Poultry Hatchery: Normal Occurrence?

Awesome, its all ways better to hear this kind of story. Good luck on the caunas. I just got 25 more and 15 wellsummers. Gotta have chocolates with the blues. Spend the extra 10 bucks and all ways vaccinate your mail order chicks. We have lost so many to hawks ,coons, heat and everything else...

    incubater temperatures

Can anyone tell me if a hova-bater w/turner is a good starter. My legbars will be ready in 6 months ,so im trying to propare. A few swedish flowers in there as well. See the white spot on the roosters heads in the center. 2 roos and 6 pullets on the legbars, and who knows what the flower hens...

They are first on my list in spring. I cant believe i missed them this year. Everyone is out ,unless you know a hatchery. Im really not wanting to pay the Greenfire price. Spring they will sell for 2.79 or 3 on the straight run day olds. I had to settle for the Silver Spangled Hamburgs for now...

Micah there are no beams. The livestock panels just attach to the base. I just completed an 8x8 and it is easier to pull around. The door jam is just attached using horseshoe nails @ the top. The back just has a 2x6 vertical at center just to help give your chicken wire a nailer for tightness...

    Rattlesnake in my chicken coop!

I have killed a 3' rattler and a 7' chicken snake all ready this year. Not to bad, but i do not like snakes of any kind. Texas hill country is loaded with snakes. I have positioned all nest boxes low enough to see for my 5 yr old. I remember as a 5 yr old, I reached up to a nest and found a 6'...

Re-purposed trampoline to a chicken tractor!

That is the most awesome thing yet. Hope you don't get mad at me for doing the same. What a good run, safe from hawks and others. Just so happens ,I have an old trampoline. Thanks for the creativity and God bless.

    I lost 4 Chickens today.

I will say you are probably right about the fox. I was thinking it happened early before the sun came up. Then a coon could've nabbed em from there roost. This sounds more like a playful fox given the time and being free range. Maybe a Bobcat?

    I lost 4 Chickens today.

I lost a swedish flower hen this morning also. The head missing only. We need to set the coon traps again. My guess is that they kill one or two and leave the meat so that it can soften up a bit. They seem to eat more of the bird when they have to pull them through the wire. Almost needing a...

No beam needed. The livestock panels are really sturdy. Sorry so long getting back. I had responded the same day but it sent to the wrong place. I plan on building 6 more ,but will do 12' lengths instead. One tarp will be cut in half and resewn to do two coops. I will also flip the tarp so the...

    The Hoop Coop

Easy and cheap to build. The coop is great for after the birds are feathered out ,but are still small enough to fall prey to hawks. Out of the brooder and in to the hoop coop. The coop can be moved all over the grass so they get fresh greens. The view can be adjusted by rolling back the tarp...

Bad Experience w/IDEAL Poultry Hatchery: Normal Occurrence?

it just so happens i lost all 35 polish all cochins and all red caps. the gold sexlinks are still alive. i think all hatcheries have disease spells like with my polish.
