I'm trying to find a breeder of good quality American style orpingtons. I am afraid of buying hatchery birds due to poor quality, but if anyone knows of a hatchery that is producing good quality orpingtons then I will consider that as a last resort.
I totally believe this. Years ago we had a white silkie that hatched 2 BB Mille Fleur d'uccle (along with some others). The two d'Uccle pullets were full grown when I went into the coop to find Sylvia (the hen) dead on the floor. One of the pullets had her head pushed under her mom's wing, while...
Hi, she's improving, but has gone broody again. She has laid one egg. Hard to tell how well she is when she is determined to sit on the nest. She's eating the mash I'm making her. I've been adding a bit of B complex to her feed, as well as colloidal silver in case she has some underlying...
I will take that into consideration for sure. There's no way I can afford to take her to the vet unfortunately. This came on suddenly this afternoon though - I am wondering if she may have eaten something moldy or bad. I have just given her some activated charcoal incase...
I don't think so. It's really hard to tell from the pic, but the streaks of whitish stuff is the normal chicken poop stuff and all the other oddments are junk that was on the concrete where she pooped. Just watery with whitish streaks...
I have a bantam silkie x cochin who is suddenly not feeling good at all. When my kids went to let the flock out to forage, she was very slow coming to the door and then almost fell over when she came down the steps. She just stood there, kind of wobbling. She's alert and I don't see any signs of...
I have discovered a mouse problem in the area where we store the chicken feed. I have a half bag of scratch that is contaminated with mouse droppings. I am very reluctant to use it now, but I am not sure if I am being overly cautious. Is there a real issue with feeding this to our birds - not...
Well, Heuldys is very perky and loving the high protein treats we're giving her! I'm not seeing any indications of sour crop (I've dealt with it in the past) and I am just hoping that she is just putting a lot of effort into making new feathers...
So, can you please explain a little bit about 'autosomal' red please? @MysteryChicken? And I was trying to find what happens when crossing a silver Columbian with a gold or red Columbian, but couldn't track that down. I do know that there's a really wide range of chick colours depending on which...
