My silkie went broody yesterday. Should I put golf balls in with her? No one is laying well enough to give her any eggs. Or do I just let her sit in the nesting box with no eggs.
Finally got my holding pen done in the basement. I'm very excited. Everyone will be moved outside in the spring.
We are going to use sand, but no one has any yet. And of course everyone is out of pine, so we used straw, for now.
I'm setting some on Feb 1st. We are working on a lifelong flock. Breed selecting for fast growing and good egg layers.
Our homemade bator fits about 45 eggs. I'm not sure I will get that many in a week.
