Well they absolutely love it fermented! The ducks usually aren't very enthusiastic about fermented feed. They eat it cause they have no other choice. Lol. But I added a coffee can of the Catfish feed to the 3 cans of layer and game bird mix that I've been feeding and let it get soggy with it...
Can the catfish feed be fermented in with my layer? I bought a bag of the Purina today THEN decided to check to see if it was ok to feed to chickens and ducks. Lol. Glad I found this thread! my birds haven't laid since mid June this year. I wormed them 2 days ago. The whole flock with Ivomec...
I haven't had any luck crossing mature ducks of different breeds raised separately. They may if raised from babies w each other. But my drake is prejudiced. While none of the magpies mind the one buff duck, the drake won't top her or even flirt w her.
I have kind of a similar problem/question. I have 5 magpies n they all ALWAYS lay in the same nest in the hen house floor. If I want one to hatch out some, how do I go about getting just one duck to sit a nest full of eggs? At 5 eggs a day being added to the nest, would a duck go broody that...
i feed mine their main meal in the evening. so when i "chick, chick, chick" my chickens up, the ducks come a running in a single file line from the pasture or pond to get in the coop at night with the chickens. they usually lead the rest of the flock into the coop.
Thank you! That's what I've thought since they got their feathers in and I could look up pics of duck breeds to compare them with. But these are my first go w ducks and i wasn't sure. They started laying in December and haven't quit through single digit temps! Earned my respect! These are laying...
A sure nuff loud QUACK is the female. A muttered noise is drake. My girls are very vocal about what happens around the yard whereas the drake is always low n quiet.
I have 8 ducks n 1 drake in w my 28 chickens n 1 roo. There has never been any problems between the two. The ducks rate higher because they have comical personalities an herd very easily. Mine also started laying in December and haven't quit even w single digit temps. All the chickens went on...
