Thank you so much for the input. So far we are ok but I know that we could have trouble soon. I have a large dog crate and a small coop where I can separate when needed.
How long can you keep roosters with the general population before they become aggressive with each other? We had our first hatch this year and have many rooster which we will butcher when they grow out. We have 25 chickens together most are 10 weeks with the exemption of 3 13 week olds. I have...
Are these 10 week light brahma chicks roos? I have 7 light brahmas that look pretty much the same with red combs. They have rounded feathers though. Maybe they aren't older enough for pointed saddle feathers yet? I am a 1st time chicken owner. TIA[/IMG][/IMG]
Out of a total of 34 eggs (we started with 40) that made it to lockdown 29 hatched! We lost one but the rest are happily in the brooder. I had a mini heart attack when I checked on then the first time, they all looked dead but they were just sleeping. Lol
I don't think that we did to shabby for...

Thank you,
I think I will remove some of them. They are still wet even the ones that hatched last night before 11pm. We seem to have too many to count at this point . I don't know who is having more fun me or my 3 kids. These chicks are a homeschool project for them.
Question: We have several chicks that hatched last night. They still look wet. Yesterday morning I wet our 2 sponges ( they were dry) and the humidity is now 80. I removed one just now but left the other. Do I leave the wet chicks in the bator or can I move them to the warmed brooder to dry?

We have 8 or 9 this morning. It is hard to count them in the bator. They still aren't dry though, my humidity was high at 80 so I quickly removed a sponge. Hopefully my humidity will drop a little soon and they will dry. They should be dry before I move them to the brooder though right?

Yay!!! Hopefully yours will hatch soon. Today is day 21 here!
We woke this morning to a total of 8 or 9 chicks in the incubator (it is hard to count with them moving around)! 5 hatched last night before 11. I removed one sponge because my humidity was too high at 80. The chicks that hatched...
We now have 4 hatched and 5 more pipped! I can't seem to get a good pic since they are in the bator. I will get some tomorrow when I move them to the brooder.
We came home from our evening activities at 8:00 to find a chick!!!! And now it has a little friend. I am finally a chicken owner. 2 others have pipped! I wish you both luck too!
I have officially become a chicken owner! Our first chick hatched. We have 3 more pips. I know I need to leave it in the incubator to dry but should I leave it overnight if it is the only one before I head to bed?
