    I use a scoop shovel to clean it out periodically, and afterwards put pine shavings down. It is a chicken coop, so you can't keep it spot-less of course. The paint on the floor makes cleaning it easier. The nesting boxes are not attached, so I can move those out of the way when I clean as well...

    It is possible - but I had the nesting boxes closed so the hens would have not had access to the insects unless the insects crawled out. But yes, chickens LOVE bugs.
