    Wire question

Hello everyone, hope you're all staying well and healthy. I am redoing my coop and covering it with 1/2 inch 19 gauge wire cloth. I'll be using staples for the most part but there are areas where crimping sleeves will be needed. I've looked online and I'm still not sure what size crimping...

    Chicken bedding...

I know it is expensive but I have been using hemp and it's the best thing I've ever used. Hemp won't cause respiratory irritation like pine can, it's completely non-toxic, long lasting and absorbs odors incredibly well, as long as you don't have too many hens in one space. You can use what's...

    Unknown chicken? Possibly Dark Cornish🤷🏼‍♀️

He's certainly beautiful. I'm definitely no expert on breeds but I work in Ybor City, Florida and he reminds me of the chickens there which are descendants from chickens brought over by the Spanish. They are more like game foul and a lot less like domestic chickens. He looks very sturdy like...

    New to BYC

I've only raised one duck and her name was Grace and she was a Cayuga. Very sweet girl. They love earthworms and she would get so excited when she saw me with my hand rake! She couldn't wait for me to start digging. She also laid beautiful mint green eggs, which is always a plus. Duck eggs...

    What breed is this girl?

The peacomb I recognized from online. That's one of my favorite things about her looks. She's no longer with us, but she was a very good hen. Hand raised, very sweet and very vocal. Also a favorite trait of mine.

    What breed is this girl?

I had these 2 several years ago and I know one is a buff orpington but not sure about the other. The black and white hen had feathers on her legs. Can anyone tell me what breed she is. I really liked her and want to find another.

    soft-shelled duck eggs

Hello all and happy new year. Does anyone know how much oyster shell is too much and I give my girls romaine lettuce. Could the lettuce be inhibiting calcium absorption?

    Ducks that lay colored eggs?

I have a duck that I was told was a Blue Swedish when I purchased her but I really think she is a Cayuga. She laid her first egg today and it is a bluish green. I took a picture but it' really hard to see the true color. I'd really like to know what breed she is. I know the Cayuga lay dark gray...

Review by '' on item 'Cayuga'

I purchased Grace at a local feed store when she was 2 days old. The store owner told me she is a Blue Swedish and as a newly hatched duckling she looked like the pictures I found online. When she lost the little yellow patch on her breast and developed the new beautiful green and blue...

I'm in Tampa too. Love the Ybor chickens and roos. I work at Hcso on 8th Ave and listen to the roos every morning at work. I have taken several pics of them too. I got a pic of a young white chicken, looks like a hen to me, looks like she may be related to the one in your picture. Can we...

    Colored eggs

I am looking for advice on the best breed(s) for colored eggs. I really would like the friendliest breed since I keep them more as pets. The eggs are just a bonus!

    PVC RUN

No and I was looking for that info and couldn't find it. I was going to just go to Home Depot or Lowe's and see what I thought would work best. I do have the instructions for PVC hinges and I think they connect with elbow joints, etc. And PVC cement.

    PVC RUN

Almost forgot, I have seen the Eglu and they are really nice. That's what I would have if my budget would allow.

    PVC RUN

Thank you, any input is good and much appreciated. I really want to be able to move the run every couple days but I really want them to be able to scratch and if I have the wire bottom they won't. I just lost a hen (my favorite and largest) to what I expect is a raccoon and don't want to take...
