    Mallard duck question

If you don't want her to fly away, you can clip the end of the longer wing feathers of one wing. There are lots of demonstrations and tutorials around the Internet :)

    *~*Runner Duck Club*~*

Thanks! He's my only runner so I won't be breeding him, but I am proud to have him :) I was surprised how young your 10 week old runners are to be getting splash. Although, Albert is around 10 months and quite white already. Suppose it depends on the genes determining how early and how much...

    Help me

My ducklings who hatched for me the first time made a crack first, then a pip, then they zipped round and popped out. Don't worry, this is probably happening with yours too. Hatching takes time so patience is needed ;)

    *~*Runner Duck Club*~*

This is Albert, my indian runner drake. I bought him with these white markings so I'm not sure if it is an age thing or just the way he is, but either way I think he's handsome.

    help in identifying ducklings!!

My ducklings (not runners) would never stand so upright as that. I would guess yours are indian runners, but like you said it might be a case of wait and see ;)

    Ducks in the coop?

My hens are very precise and organised- every night at around 8 they are in with no questions asked. One night though I went to lock them up at 9:30, and unlike usual, the ducks were also in bed. I think they do want to go in the coop but their timing isn't as great as the hens and they like to...

    Proud Cayuga owners!!!!

I only have the one cayuga girl, but boy I must say she is my favourite of all the ducks. So tame and calm when you hold her, and comes to you for nibbles and treats from your hand :) could not ask for a better girlie! Going to cross breed her next spring with my big silver appleyard boy...

    Drowning chickens?

I have hens and ducks, and the ducks have pools which the hens never go in unlike the ducks, all they do is take a drink every now and then, with no risk of drowning. When hens get older unless its a crazy silkie (I heard they love water) then they know how to drink without drowning themselves...

    Can duck coexists with chickens?

My drake did at first but one of my hens had just stopped being broody so was still moody, so when this drake tried to mount her she have him a surprise in the form of a pecking, and he has never done it again. The hens and the drake now get along fine as if nothing happened ;)

    Can duck coexists with chickens?

I have 3 hens and 4 ducks, usually they love separate but one of my hens is ill and had to be isolated in the ducks house, so now they other hens and ducks live together and there are no problems, the ducks have a dog bowl to drink from and the hens still use their drinkers and they share layers...
