    I insulated my coop with rockwool batting as my area temps get down to -40 for a week or two every winter. I love it! i keep a vent cracked for all moisture the birds make but no breeze and they all do great. I still have a bit of a problem with them getting tips of their comb froze occasionally...

    I live in the north and that being said our winters can have temps -40 for a week or two max, but average -20 to -30 celcius. is that too cold of a range to keep peafowl? they either could live in a 8x8 insulated building alone, or in one with chickens and guinea hens. I think I know the answer...

    Ive often heard the amount of calcium in commercial feed (mine being 4.24%) is too much for them. The roosters as you state need much much less. I ask this as my homemade feed is 0.11%

    I have a chance to have 12 quail eggs hatch for me for free, but have one main question. How cold hardy are they? I live in north western Ontario Canada and in the winter the temps drop to -40 often. Can they handle it like my Rhode islands and other chickens?
