    Predators are horrible here too :( Causes me to have to build my coops and runs bulletproof with bottoms and tops on the runs. I have a Sis in Law in Hurricane that has lost a lot of her flock to predators too. I'm down about 45 minutes south of Huntington :)

    Plan on using deep litter method to help keep their feet warm and using a heat light on a timer for the coldest nights, everyone is going in one coop for the "warmth in numbers" and Make sure you have WOOD roosts and not metal ;)

    It's got a straight comb. I can't find ANYTHING On meyer's site that looks like it :/ They were hatched May 22nd it def doesn't look built like a meat bird if that's what it is, but I'm almost certain it's a hen

    Morning of hatch day here, eggs weren't set until 9pm on a Friday but so far I've got 5 of 13 babies out and two more pipped. 6 of the 13 are shipped eggs, so far 3 of those have hatched which is GREAT! Hoping the other 3 do too ;) they're my blue cochins

    I agree with this, I was home alone the first time I had to cull a chick and I cried like a baby :'( Sometimes its a necessary evil when we "farm" we have to be ready for the death too :( I can't say it gets much easier as I've had to do it more

    IDK It's really lean and tall a lot like my leghorns are but has the splashes of color on it. I can't find anything on their website that looks anything like it :/
