Just-born pigeons on my doorstep - HELP!

Ok, I know just about nothing about pigeons... Chickens are my area of knowledge, not pigeons! Yesterday, several young girls from the village brought some day-old pigeons to me - they had found them surrounded by cats with no nest to be found. I know that you are not supposed to take them...

Why is my Chinese Quail female eating her eggs?

She and her mate always have access to their food and they eat a LOT. And as soon as the egg is out, she attacks it! Unfortunately I cannot wait next to her in the hopes of grabbing the egg before she destroys it - that would be a colossal waste of time. ~Cherlyn

Why is my Chinese Quail female eating her eggs?

That is the problem - I do not know. I know it is a quail mix, but no protein level is given. I supplement with wet kitten kibble about once a week. Most people here in England use chick crumb - no wide variety of game bird feed. Maybe she wants more calcium? ~Cherlyn

Why is my Chinese Quail female eating her eggs?

We bought her from a garden and leisure centre here in England - they take wonderful care of their birds. Is this just some quirk that is here to stay or can I do something to make her stop? ~Cherlyn

Why is my Chinese Quail female eating her eggs?

Have owned her for a week, and gotten two eggs in that time. Each time she lays it and then promptly tears it apart and eats the shell and some of the yolk/whites. Why is she doing this? ~Cherlyn

Chick with eye, nose problems - do I need to cull?

Isolating now. Unfortunately antibiotics are not readily available here in England, and we are coming up on a long weekend so the vet is closed. Dunno what to do! ~Cherlyn

Chick with eye, nose problems - do I need to cull?

Two week old buff orpington chick, goopy almost-shut eyes, goop coming from both nostrils, not walking well, not eating or drinking that I have seen. Started about eight hours ago. Tried wiping with warm washcloth with no visible changes. Living in brooder under heat lamp with four other...

    Please explain my buttons' behaviour!

Turns out SHE was bullying HIM. I moved them into the outdoor aviary where they have a lot more room. If I can, I will get a few more females as well. ~Cherlyn

    Please explain my buttons' behaviour!

I have a pair, King Henry and Queen Elizabeth. Both are about 12 weeks old. King Henry does his mating call constantly, but they are not mating. She actually seems to want to get the heck outta Dodge. She paces quickly around the cage walls as though she wants out. They seem to get along...

1 week old buff orpington chick with wry neck

What do I do? She or he is bent completely over with her head underneath her stomach, and walking backwards, chirping loudly. Occasionally straightens herself out for a moment and then goes right back to how she was. She was fine at 0730 this morning and when I got home at 2 this afternoon...

Gender and Mutation of my Asian Blue button quail??

Any ideas? Sold to me as Asian blue and the guy does not keep any other types, he says. As far as I know, I have a pair, because my other one is clearly a male and is a plain ol' asian blue. So, is this a lady quail? How do I sex them? ~Cherlyn
