5 month old Splash Ameraucana cockerel needs new home
would love to not have to ship
so that would mean Sacramento area pick up
he seems to be a sweet boy so far
Jean, I saw the lighter colors in the face on Jeremy's choc chick too in his pics
the bantam chocs I hatched are not crossed to the LF, just both bantam chocs and they were dark all over
is it something from the cross to LF that is giving them light faces at first? I know they will feather in...
Yes, I agree
Parents are not my birds
They are Blehm stock, bought as all black
but I can not see them
it's ok, they will go into the layer flock and have a good life whatever they are
I just thought I was nuts to be seeing odd colors from black birds
knowing they might throw lavendar helped...
Wow, that could explain it
I might not be crazy after all!
I will post a pic as soon as I get them out of the hatcher
thanks for the info, much appreciated
My understanding is Black on Black with BBS ameraucanas will yield 100% black ams
These are blehm ameraucanas from BBS line but are all black birds
I am getting blue and splash chicks as well as black
is it an easter miracle or am I mistaken re BBS all black = all black?
really, no extra sneaky...
Jeremy I PM'd you :)
Any one near Sacramento have shipping boxes I can buy? My box shipper didn't send them to me in time and I've promised birds to be shipped soon.
Yummy, Chocolate Ameraucanas, we will need another thread for that.
What do the other colors of Eng LF Orps weigh? I know I've always heard that chocolate would make you weigh more, but I doubt it effected the chickens.
For those of you with adult bantam choc orps, about how much do they weigh?
And how do you weigh them...
And how much do the LF choc orps weigh?
this is averages of course
Are there standards for the bantam choc orps someone can point me to
The little black chick is looking like a boy to me as well Jeremy. I'm going to go stare at a choc orp female chick and see what she looks like up close like that.
The photos make the legs look chunkier on the black than on the choc
and the female chick I just picked up and examined has little...
Jeremy, what are they crossed with? What color orps.
I have not seen alot of baby chocs yet, but mine have dark heads
Can someone tell me why some will have light heads like Jeremy's and mine are all one color?
and boy are your new babies DARLING! so glad you posted pics
I have one young gentlemen with the Chocolate Gene available for sale, $80/each.
Good sized English Bantam birds and seem huge at 6 weeks so may be good candidates for breeding with LF stock to get that chocolate gene cross-over.
Hatched Feb 2012. I will ship them at 8 weeks.
I will sell them...
HI Helen
I PM'd you but didn't hear back.
I have 3 vb females left (3 that have not been picked up yet so if they become available I'll let you know).
PM me or email me. I'd be happy to hold the 3 for you if you send me payment and I know a date etc when your friend is coming.
let me know
I have pics for you.
chocolate orps at 5 weeks
I have more eggs in, hopefully all girls this time so these 2 extra beautiful gentlemen can have a partner. :)
