I also like to add soil to inoculate the pile. Straw and leaves and small sticks can help provide aeration to your mix. I insert a piece of French drain (section that has inch drainage holes) vertically into the middle of the pile…both aerates and allows me to add water if needed...

No can do. My mom lost her battle with cancer at the young age of 60.5. She was a science teacher and might have been interested in the genetics and gardening sections. All four of her children have lived longer than she did. Miss her humor, compassion, friendship and tenacity every day.

So dry here we have had no mushrooms pop here at all. Miss my morels this year. We really need a good toad soaking rain. Weather seems to go around us.
