    Snake

The other day, we found a adolescent snake (about 15") right at our front door. I guess it was homeless and needed shelter or something. From my research it looks like a Pacific Gopher Snake and people keep them as pets. We are thinking about keeping it as pet. So far we have it (we think...

    Congratulations, Sacramento!

Quote: Look on page 12. http://www.scribd.com/doc/63665160/Chicken-Ordinance If you look at fees and enforcement, those numbers seems just silly. 550 estimated calls, each talking 1 hour for chickens compliance issues? That is about 2 calls a day, for chickens? What are they going to do...

    Congratulations, Sacramento!

$45/year for permitting fees on 3 hens. I guess Sac is hard up for cash. I hope they see the error of their ways as well as see how impossibly hard this will be to enforce.

Sacramento, CA considering B.Y.C. but with a permit

Permits to raise chickens. I wonder if the Chicken Police will come down hard on you if you are illegal. CSI-Sacramento. http://blogs.sacbee.com/city-beat/2011/08/backyard-chicken-ordinance-returning-to-city-hall.html

Parking the car and getting a bike

Apparently in America, you need a sign to stay safe on the road: ''Ex wife got car'' http://www.signforums.com/forums/showthread.php?6065-Alternative-Commutes

Parking the car and getting a bike

Could be worse. You could have a road bike, a mountain bike and a commuter bike because you can't afford to get your road nor mountain bikes stolen. And with gas at $4/gallon, I am more than happy to bike it.

Hen stopped laying eggs after 1 season

I have a New Hampshire Red who is only one year old. She stopped laying eggs about Oct, 2010. To date, she has not laid another egg. There does not appear to be anything physically wrong with her, she eats alright and acts like a normal chicken. It is near the 6 months point of no egg...

Photographers, what tripods do you recommend?

You can't go wrong with Manfrotto or Gitzo. They cost a little more but they will last. I love my Gitzo. if you like a portable pocket size, there is always Joby GorillaPad

    My chicken is stupid

So we were out of town a few days. We returned, we found one chicken who managed to wedge her head between the fence and a hen house post. Needless to say she died. I just have to wonder, did the chicken ever considered pulling her head backward and thus freeing herself? Instead, it looked...
