    Poulet de Barbezieux hatched on Sunday. Interestingly they are black with white bellies and the middle toe is also white. I thought they might be crossed with something but apparently they have this pattern when hatches and then turn completely black.

    Just put 13 barbezieux eggs in the incubator! Their eggs are huge! Like turkey eggs. Got them from a lady on border of england and Wales who imported parent stock from France last year

    They are too small to tell... Sometimes you get really small drakes and large ducks untill the drakes start growing larger than their mums.

    Yes... In fact they told everyone to keep their birds indoors before they discovered bird flu in the UK. They did it as precaution after finding it on turkey farm in Holland!

    Bird flu has been diagnosed in Netherlands, Germany, I think Switzerland and sadly UK (where we are).

    All poultey keeper in the UK have been ordered to keep their birds indoor (under roof) for 30 days starting on 6th of December. Geese have been exempt for some reason interestingly!
