I just picked these birds up not quite a week ago from another owner. Noticed the cough/sneeze as soon as I got home with them. They appeared to come from nice conditions although I guess one really doesn't know. So they are removed from that previous environment.
Good Lord my head is spinning. Information and correct dosage overload.
Anyway, I'm on day 3 of .23ml +/- (Safe Guard liquid goat) per bantam and I'm not seeing any improvement on the sneeze/cough they have. Figured if it was gape worm causing the sneeze/cough I'd see some improvement by now...
I used liquid goat wormer. I weighed the birds and used a 1ml syringe. The birds range from a little over a pound to a pound and a half. I used the formula of .23ml per pound and estimated a tad more based on their weight.
Ok great. How sensitive are the birds to the dewormer if dosage isn't exact? Such as if they get bit more in the dose than exactly .25ml if the birds weight is miscalculated?
Safeguard Aquasol is Fendendazole, At least it says it on the package.
I'm seeing some sneezing/cough with a head shake. One bird has some minor mouth opening (gaping). No mucus, clear eyes at the moment. One seems slightly lethargic. I just got these birds, they about a year old.
Thank you...
Anyone have any experience with dosing bantam chickens with Safe Guard Aquasol? I am interpreting the instructions as saying a flock size of less than 22 pounds, do not treat. I think I'm seeing signs of gape worm. Unless someone can recommend another de-wormer and the dose for bantams, that...
I'm actually surprised the hawk was able to fly off with the chicken. Coopers hawk aren't big, and if this hawk is similar in size, I'm really surprised it can take flight carrying a full grown chicken
Nice! but I hope I don't have that many, Sheesh. This did some damage to the trap, hopefully I can make it work still. what brand trap are you using? Mine is the Countyline from tractor supply.....junk
Figures.....I buy a brand new $75 trap and the trigger mechanism is so sloppy I have to take great care to set it as a "hair trigger". It can be a good thing, but also the slightest bump or rattle of the trap can set it off. So if the animal fools around on the outside (which will happen) it'll...
What are you using for bait? I’m pretty sure I got one more than 1. The one I saw Sunday night didn’t appear as big as the one that got into the pen. That sucka was a hoss. I generally walk the dog w/ my .22 because I have foxes that like to cause issues. If I only took it with me last night I...
I knew I had them around but they stayed to themselves. 2 nights ago it was in the my big fenced in area when I went to close up the pens. Last night heard some ruckus in one of my grow out pens while walking the dog and he was in there and had ahold of one of the muscovies. One of the few...
