He's a muscovy. One of the hatchlings in the photo has the eyestripe from eye to back of head. Mallard hatchlings have eyestripe through whole head. -

I had a muscovy duckling rescued at 2 weeks old after all her siblings were taken by predators and her Mother abandoned her. She was then raised alone until 6 weeks. She definitely knew she was a duck. -
