lol. Yeah their pin is right behind my house so I can hear them well. We don't really have to worry about the neighbors as they've never complained about it in the past and we had roosters before that crowed all the time. It's just odd to me that he just stopped.
My roo (probably about six months old) started crowing a couple of months ago. He crowed for a few days then just quit and hasn't done it since. Any ideas why he has stopped crowing?
Well, not necessarily mean, but my roo (3 months old) is incredibly aggressive toward me. When he was in the biddy pin, he would go out of his way to peck at me (and trust me, it didn't feel good). We let them out yesterday because they're as big now as our other chickens and he was ok as long...
This guy was a bit late. He's a cochin roo who is around 5 months old and just started to crow. I'm not sure why he waited so long, but I guess he's just special.
Actually, I guess I should have said that they're Cochin - Red Island Red mix. Mama was a Cochin and Daddy was a RIR. Don't know if that matters or not.
when they lay their first egg? Mine are about four and a half months old and I found a pretty small egg today. Just wondering if it came from one of them, or one of my older hens.
I have a chick that's three days old that still can't straighten it's feet. It walks on the sides of it's feet. It can't even open it's feet completely up, let alone straighten them or walk on them. Will the chicken outgrow this? Is it a somewhat common condition? He or she just hops around...
Hey! I have a question. My chicks are too young for oyster shell (read that the high amounts of calcium can cause bone problems). What can I give them that gives the amount of grit they need without harming them?
They have been in a wire enclosed brooder inside of the chicken pen with the others for a couple of weeks now. I think they're actually closer to four and a half or five weeks old (someone in my house told me three, but we've raised them from the day they were born). They have had indirect...
I have 8 three week old chickens that I just put out with my older chickens. (four are adult hens and the other six are between 3 and 4 month old buff cochin chickens). My older hens are fine and actually somewhat protective of the babies, but one of my cochins is bullying them. Is this...
I had something VERY similar to this happen today! I went to check on our chickens and found a little blue bird about to drown in our rooster's water. I quick grabbed it out so it wouldn't drown but I didn't know what to do with it. (can't take it inside because of dog and cat). I put it on...
I'm glad you were able to bring them home. Is there someone you can contact about the way the man is treating these birds? I'm afraid I'd be turning him in.
Oh, and I just love the little ducks and your white roo on your husband's arm.
