Can anyone tell me if this can be fixed? She was harassed a lot when she was younger and lost her feathers and now it's getting steadily worse even though she doesnt get harassed anymore.
I treat every egg and every chicken we cook as if it has salmonella. Proper cooking and cleaning of counter and utensils should kill any left over bacteria. Cook everything thoroughly making sure that whatever you are cooking reaches 160 degrees F kills all bacteria.
We started out last year with just 6 white leghorns. They are now down to 4 thanks to a opossum that has been eradicated by a single .223 round lol. This year we are going all out because if you're going to take care 4 chickens, you might as well take care of more. So we got 12 more leghorns...
No it doesn't include the extra 96 square feet under the coop. Its a total of 296 square feet of run space. There are boards on one side of the coop for roosting on the inside of the coop.
I think we have enough space in and out of the coop for our young flock but i want to make sure. The flock consists of 16 white leghorns, 11 buff brahma's, and 2 khaki Campbell ducks. We have an 8'X12' raised shed/coop with 12 nesting boxes built onto the side of the coop so it doesnt take up...
We started out with 6 white leghorns last year and are getting 12 buff brahma's and 12 more leghorns. With the cost of buying or building the coop, I would start small. You can have your solitary confinement (haha) coop and get your bigger coop when you know what you're getting yourself into.
