Tractor supply has chicks on an availability basis by type so you may be able to find what you are looking for here. There is a new breeder on Route 20 headed to Orange but if memory serves he only has RIR and Tetra Link I think. I could look him up if you are interested. You would be surprised...
The problem is there is a lot of building happening here and pushing the animals into the park and giving them more food sources for scavenging as well so they prosper.
Been busy at work like everyone! The girls are doing great but I am thinking my rooster will be leaving the coop, either in a pen or a pot. He is very aggressive to my daughter. My quandary is that I live in the Civil War battlefield at Bloody Angle and there is hundreds if not thousands of...
Chicks and ducklings are scheduled to arrive at TSC of Spotsylvania today. I was told that this would be an assorted selection based on which hatchery delivered in a round delivery schedule. Promised the wife I wouldn't buy any chicks but my daugther's birthday was Valentine's day and she now...

There is a swap scheduled for March 8th in Moorisville which is on Route 17 in the Faquier Stafford area. I am pretty sure there is one scheduled for the same day in Culpeper as well.
Manaze88, I have been reading a lot and it could be many things but most likely it is the weather. I am by no means an expert but I would suggest extra calcium, lots of fresh water, hand feeding the ladies snacks. My daughter feeds the hens baby spinach and I swear they purr like cats when she...
So excited that my girls are finally getting comfortable at their new home been getting one egg most days from five hens and came home today to three eggs! Been trying real hard to do right by them and I guess it is working. Be safe in the snow everyone!
Where I am in VA the eagles have made a strong comeback and I actually saw a eagle take a duck so I would guess it could take a chicken too. Sorry for your loss.
It's a heat wave! The girls love the weather. Gave one rooster to a friend as I had two and the rooster left has now gotten really aggressive with my daughter. He tried to bite her twice yesterday so I picked him up and put him in the kennel for a hour or so. Any ideas to mellow him to my...
I am going to build a bigger coop in March. Most of the feed and tack stores up here start carrying chicks around Theodore to end of February. I don't have pure breeds so I can't speak to them but the sex links I have seem to be pretty hardy and still lay when it's cold.
I have five hens and a RIR rooster. Just got them last week. Was going to get chicks next month but kind if lucked it these. Kiddos love them so I don't think they miss the chicks so far. How about you?
Here in Spotsylvania I would say we got 3 inches of snow and it was about 20 when I opened the coop. I scrapped the run to the ground which the roos seemed to like but the girls preferred the stick my kiddos had put in the fence for a roost.
