Thankfully I have room for a few Roos. My fave EE is a boy as well. Oops!
Was getting ready to put some treats on that plate and he jumped up to say hi. Haha
3 of the 4 meet me at the door of their brooder pen every day--food or no food in my hands. LOL And when I have them out, they want to climb up my arm and nestle up against my neck on my shoulder.
I only have one other super friendly baby, and it's a buckeye..lol
So, I was messing around with my hatchery babies...and noticed my Brahma's...one was a bit different looking than the others.
Then I placed it...no tail feathers yet..ahaha. It's the one I keep calling my boy (hatchery tossed in an extra chick, and extra chick ended up being a Buff Brahma)...
I'm stoked at the pretty colors they are turning...even the littles, Elvira is starting to get some neat spotted feathers on her "shoulder" area.
Roux figured out how to even the playing field with the older pullets...I made a swing in the coop that no one really uses. He waits for the 2 month...
it's been super fun watching them mature and get their feathers in. If someone would have told me Roux was going to have that much white as a baby, I never would have believed them! It was a super wonderful surprise. It's not even a really true white, more of a super pale cream...but he's...
New Brahma owner here :) Mine came from Mt Healthy Hatchery. I ordered 3 Buff Brahma pullets (along with several other breeds--25 chicks ordered total and they shipped me 26...but one of my EE's didn't make it). They tossed in an extra and it is a Brahma as well--and it doesn't look like the 3 I...
I'm a bit more awake today. I'm positive it's a Brahma as that was the only feather footed breed the hatchery has listed. It also has a very orange face, like the other three, light brahma chicks seem to have a buttery yellow colored face.
Thanks :D Added a few more pics of the three itty bitty ones.
Thankfully with Roux, his old name hadn't really stuck...I was calling him Itty Bitty Chickie, or Itty for short.
Still trying to figure out some names for the others--it's hard when all the birds look alike (as is the case with my 5...
The month olds look about the same today, so I decided to get a few quick snaps of the week olds!
. .
That one has the fuzziest face. Reminds me a bit of Hawk at this age, but a touch darker in color.
. .
That one has color a bit more close to Hawk at that age, but not nearly as fuzzy...
The hatchery I got them from does not sell Cochin. I was thinking light brahma too, but s/he doesn't look like any pictures I've seen of day olds (that's about what point these pictures were taken)
first set of pics...it's the one closest to the camera in the first picture, furthest right/butt facing camera in the 2nd picture. The chick facing it in that one is what the other three all look like.third picture--back right corner chick.
2nd set of pictures
right next to my hand in the...
So, I ordered 3 buff brahmas (in addition to a bunch of other chicks). They threw in an extra "packing peanut" and after a couple of days, I figured out it was a Brahma as well. However, it looks quite a bit different in color than the other 3. It does not look like pictures of Light or Dark...
I'll toss a few more of them up later...and I did get a couple of decent ones with a real camera of Roux last week (which was when I started to wonder if she were not a he...more obvious now..LOL)
But that's my six original EE babies. They came from Rural King, which told me they got their...
And this WAS my favorite pullet until I noticed she was most likely a he this past week. Still love him, but we changed the name from Itty to Roux.
First day home and had me worried. It was a 40 minute drive back with them. He was running around and eating and drinking, but was soooo tiny...
