If they around light birds, they will still be able to hop up and over a fenc, even if you clip both wings. If there is a top rail over your fence, remove it if you can. This will discourage them from jumping up on top of the fence.

Are you sure they are heritage? I've never heard of a turkey that wouldn't roost.

I feed 20% game bird feed, I am sure 24% would be fine. Maybe add something with a lower percentage protein to lower the overall protein intake.

Could be an enlarged crop. I have had a few Toms that this happened too

Mine start laying 2 weeks after their first mating. I am sure it varies depending on the birds and weather.
