Just walked in the door from locking my "free range" girls up in their coop. My girls just started pecking at the stucco__ They have been running around out there for a year. They have enough food and calcium and there are no bugs under the stucco... i have no idea why all of a sudden they have...
Wow, that is kind of cool. Thanks for the tip.
I was told that this is a large breed and boy are they, but I picked them because they are supposed to be less noisy over all. I realize that there are no guarantees...I realize that they are chickens. However, compared to a few RR's I used to...
My chickens are 13 weeks. The male has always been the larger of the 3 and his waddle and comb have been bright red for two weeks. I couldn't get past the florescent green tail feathers, I knew we were in trouble. I just refused to believe it because he is so tame, a real sweetie, I am just...
thank you :( Now i have to find a home for the Rooster and decide if i want to try and locate two older birds, start with two new birds, or leave it at two.
Decisions decisions ... urban farming is so limiting.
Thank you. Yes, i agree if you are taking about this picture:
I was worried there for a second because all 3 birds have been very quiet, almost too quiet, until yesterday morning when the Rooster must have been startled by a feral cat. Then again this morning he made an attempt to crow...
gosh i hope the one on the right, Doodoo is a pullet. I hope. In this picture the one i suspect is on the right. Dixie in the middle is obviously a hen. The one on question that you suggested might be a Roo is on the left. What indicators are you looking at?
I think i found the answer. I found a similar question with some great responses. By looking at their feathers and coloring I am pretty darn sure that i have one Roo and two hens.
The middle bird is much larger than the other two and HIS face is very red. He has the saddle feathers...
Doodoo, Dixie and Dounut.
We love how quiet they are...sometimes I forget they are out there. Oh until today, someone made a noise that sounded kind of Rooster-ish. Hmmmm
We fear that Donut is a dude.... just hope that the other two are hens.
Any one know how to tell for sure and can a hen...
