    crook neck and blindness

Has anyone ever had a pullet go blind after its crook neck started to clear up? I have a 9 week old pullet that apparently got her neck or head stepped on by another pullet. She had severe crook neck for a week, but now she keeps her head up and walks forward. However, now she bobs her head from...

    Hatchery sexing accuracy

Thanks, Kelsie. I think they probably did a good job, but we'll see. They are 4 weeks now, and there may be a rooster ot two. A packing error sounds reasonable when it does happen. I don't really mind if there are one or two. They can protect the flock, but was curious as to others' experiences.

    Hatchery sexing accuracy

I have 60 chicks I ordered from Meyer. They were to all be hens. I believe they have a 90% accuracy policy. With this many chicks, its probably save to assume a few are roosters. Hens or roosters for heritage breed meat birds?

Thanks for the feedback. I figured I would go with all hens so I wouldn't have to keep the roosters separated from hens. I would imagine this will make tnings somewhat easier.

Hens or roosters for heritage breed meat birds?

I figured it would be easier to raise all hens and not deal with roosters if I don't plan on hatching my own chicks each year. This way all the hens can be raised together without having to manage roosters. I need some...

roosters vs hens for meat birds

Hello does anyone have any thoughts regarding whether roosters or hens provide better meat? I'm ordering several different dual purpose breeds as I don't have an issue waiting a little longer for processing. I have a hen flock and my thought was to purchase 30 or so roosters from these dual...
