Sorry it took so long guys been busy as hell but anyways here are my results after 8 months, I had to keep the roosters separated because they would gang up on one and keep him beat down and away from the feed ended up with 3 separate pins of roosters because of this. The hens where fine and...
Looks like a chicken snake to me, I have already killed 2 this year 1 was over 6' long and was in the nest box with his lips around one of my eggs, when I grabbed him behind the neck he turned it loose. Never had one attack the chicks yet but I'm sure they will given the opportunity. Do a google...
Loc20chick they have a healthy appetite and are growing like weeds, yesterday they turned 4 weeks old and I had to open the door and let them out into there run. What part of SC are you visiting?
Thanks SJ for the link interesting read, I am planning on keeping some of the hens as layers and may be one or two of the roo's the rest are going in the freezer. My Rock hens started out laying small eggs but now they are medium to large even getting some double yokers now, last week I got one...
OK guys and gals my Dark Cornish and White Rock/ Amberlink cross chicks are 3 weeks old and I thought I would give you an update. I don't have scales to weigh them but I had my daughter hold some for comparison, I have not lost any of them, all though I had 2 that I had to keep in the house for...
I have the very same incubator and I am also very happy with it, went into lock down with 36 and hatched 29. this was my first time ever incubating eggs, the only thing I'm going to change is cut some Rectangle holes on each side of the fan and hot glue some Plexiglas over them so i can see inside.
The Sanven 48 Egg Incubator did a pretty good job, I had 8 infertile and 4 early quitters at day 14 when I candled .Went into lock down with 36 and hatched 29 so only had 7 that didn't hatch. not to bad for my first time ever, Only thing i do not like about this incubator is my model does not...
Hey southernmomma, yes this is his natural stance, and i just got my daughter to hold him on the scales and he weighs 10lbs. I got him last year from Cackle Hatchery on the 3 of July so he is 10 months old.
Sounds like you live in a great place and that your neighbors are respectful of your flock. I feel your pain with the hatchery chicks, the cost of shipping is what kills me, i just don't want to deal with it anymore.
OK guys and gals here are the offspring of my Dark Cornish Rooster, Big Boy and his White Rock and Amberlink ladies. I did the Dark Cornish with the White Rock to see if I can get a decent meat bird, I hope that they will mature in 4 to 6 months but only time will tell. I did the Dark Cornish...
