I hatched 7 little RIW babies a couple of days ago! I have more eggs in the incubator. I am glad to see I will have a next generation and hope to help keep this breed from going extinct.

Cmom I let mine peck each other too much I hope their tail feathers come back in soon. I swapped horsed midstream and I guess over crowded them too much. I am very impressed how well they grow and alert they are. I figure the ones that are getting a bright red comb right now are the roosters...

I would like to hear from people with RCRIW chickens ! Just a paragraph or two of how they like them and maybe an estament of how many eggs they lay and how good of a meat bird they are. I would love to know the opinions of the people that own these birds. I will say I have 50 chicks & so far...

I finally put my pics on the computer and decided to go ahead and post it from a week ago. I left Kansas with 54 a week ago and still holding at an even 50.

I know when a bug flies into their brooder they know what to do with it.

Some of these chicks hardly have wing feathers still and then some are over an inch long. Sorry for the split post.

Thanks for the links and the information. I did see that some of my chicks have faster growing feathers and just went to assuming. It makes no differance I'll probably have all these chicks I'm forced to thin them down anyway. I forgot how fast these little chicks change. My wife skipped...

Is shipping just a few chicks a year for a hobby farm hard to do? I see on several Facebook auctions shipping chicks everyday. Just curious. Also should I be able to feather sex these RC RIW I can definitely see a differance on several of these chicks.

Well I can officially say I have RCRIW chickens as of now I have 51 chicks ! Hopefully this time next year I will of helped someone else get started with them. I never hear anything bad about this breed but they are pretty hard to come by. My goal is to raise a couple hundred of them next year...
